It is with profound sadness that the CAAAI family announces the passing of our dear friend, staunch supporter, and alumni member Bertis (Bert) Brumell, who has gone home to be with the Lord. Known to his family and close friends as ‘Bert’, succumbed to his illness on Monday October 19, 2026 in Pomona, California. He was 78-years of age.
Bert Brumell hailed from Wakenaam, Reagion-3, Essequibo District. He attended Cambridge Academy and graduated class of 1966. An outstanding prodigy in the mastery of mathematics during his High School years, Bert went on to study Accountancy and Tax Law in the United States, and subsequently joined the prestigious aerospace and defense corporation Northrop-Grumman as a senior Certified Public Accountant (CPA) until his retirement.
Those of us who knew Bert very well, would collectively attest to the honor and privilege of interacting with his ‘larger-than-life’ personality; under his at times serious exterior, he harbored a warm and kindred spirit filled with humor and generosity.
Bertis Brumell leaves behind Camille, Bebe, Ashley, and Bertis Jr. Our hearts go out to his family and friends, knowing that no words could fill the void we all feel, but we also know that our Almighty God is both willing and able to lift us out of darkness into light. Arrangements for his home-going are pending, and as soon as they are completed an announcement will be made. May His Lamp Stay Lit Forever.
On behalf of the CEO, President, the Executive Board, and the entire Cambridge Alumni body, we extend our condolences.
