Fellow alumni, friends, and well wishers, the CAAAI Executive Board is taking this opportunity to reach out to all members and friends during this time of global tribulation, trials, and uncertainty. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has dealt a staggering blow to countries around the world, and has interceded into some of our individual lives. It has created an atmosphere of distress, anxiety, and death regardless of one’s social class, religion, or politics; and we don’t really have a timeframe for when this plague will leave us.
As you know, Covid-19 has caused the cancelation of our 2020 Reunion celebration which was scheduled for July18, at Antuns’ in Queens Village, New York. The CAAAI Board in conjunction with the Reunion Committee made the unanimous decision not to hold the event because the lives of our members are indisputably more important, and the State of New York has also canceled all such events.
During this period, we know that many of our members are working from home, staying indoors, and abiding with State and Federal rules. We, the Board, are encouraging you to comply with all governing policies of your State and community; additionally, please remember to wash and sanitize your hands frequently, wear a facemask, and maintain a 6-foot distance from other people when you are in public.
For those of us who are at home, there is the temptation to eat a little more than usual (smile), but it is an opportunity to also exercise indoors, eat more fruit or any item that has less calories and less fats. Last but certainly not least, remember to pray this enemy away; ‘the same God in the daytime, is the same God in the nighttime, the same God on the mountain, is the same God in the valley’. Include our Guyana and the Caribbean in your prayers, and be assured that God will lead us out of this valley and back to the mountaintop.
To all the CAAAI families, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, President, and the Executive Board, please be safe, surround each other every day with love and prayer, and be secured in your thoughts that we WILL meet again soon, in Jesus’ name.
