For the poetic at heart, many described the recent CAAAI Backyard Jam as an oasis of fun, food, and musical extravaganza with an air of sophistication, that illuminated the suburban Temple Hills, Maryland environment on Saturday September 20th last.
Over 140 alumni, family, friends and supporters from as far as New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and visitors from Guyana enjoyed the 'swarie' as they chatted and danced the night away to 'back-in-time' Caribbean tunes, and Guyanese Kwe-Kwe folkloric music under a cloudless ineffable sky that promised and delivered warm and calm weather for such a perfect occasion.
In his short remarks, the CAAAI President thanked everyone for attending and highlighted that the purpose of the event was to raise funds for the alumni's partnership school, Gifted Hands, in Georgetown Guyana. He also thanked the CEO Dr. Desiree DeFlorimonte who headed the Events Committee this year, along with Committee Members Mr. Denis Carrington, Dr. Trevin London, Mr. Lawrence Bobb, Mr. Courtney Fanfair, and Ms. Diana Alleyne for doing an outstanding job. Attached please find a collage of pictures from the Backyard Jam that captured some of the festive moments.
Once again, thank you all for your overwhelming support of our Fundraising activities, as we continue to uphold Mr. Pinkerton's legacy of 'Giving back to our Guyana'.
