The following communique was recently released by the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Guyana:
“In honor of Black History Month, we continue to introduce you to African Americans in the diaspora who are making an impact at home and abroad.
Meet Dr. Desiree DeFlorimonte fondly known as Dr. De! A reflective practitioner and transformational leader, Dr. De has a long and distinguished career in education spanning more than four decades with a focus on Literacy Studies, Early Childhood Development, Curriculum and Instruction and Humanitarianism. In 2016, Dr. De received the prestigious U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award and taught courses in Literacy Studies, Reading in Content Areas and Children’s Literature, at the University of Guyana (UG) and is presently teaching an online course for UG.
She also served as Assistant Professor at two Historically Black Colleges and Universities, where she trained teachers. Now retired, Dr. De’s successful teaching career has positively impacted the lives of thousands of students and teachers from Early Childhood classrooms through Academia, in the United States, the Caribbean and Guyana.”
Cambridge Academy Alumni Association International (CAAAI) adds to the aforementioned sentiments, as the Executive Board and alumni members join to honor and celebrate the works and accomplishments of our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who happens to be Dr. Desiree (Dee) DeFlorimonte. We are the proud recipients of her scholarship, academia, leadership, and loyal friendship she so selflessly shares with everyone she meets. Please join in this recognition of an outstanding Guyanese patriot.
