CAAAI COMMITTEES ARE ‘MAKING THE DREAM WORK’.
Hello fellow alumni and friends, welcome to our September 2021 editorial which turns the spotlight on the outstanding work our initial four committees are doing. This month I would like to talk about the contributions that are being made by our committee members, and the tremendous successes derived from their work. I am so grateful for the dedication of Committee Leaders and Volunteers who work tirelessly to plan, develop, and implement programs that benefit the membership body and our friends. You may recall, at our first Executive Board meeting for the year on February 21, 2021, the Board voted to authorize Sub-committees to be formed and function autonomously as breakout teams on any project that the Board gives approval to. This mandate gave birth to the Membership and Fundraising, Financial, Prayer Warriors, and Information Committees of the CAAAI.
The Membership Committee, under the leadership of Ms. Lorna Welshman-Neblett is currently working diligently on a fun-filled, interactive, ‘virtual’ tea-party program scheduled to be aired online early November. The purpose of this event is to raise much needed funds for our Nehemiah Comprehensive Partnership School in Georgetown, Guyana. Lorna and her team are putting together this event, and will be looking forward to your support and participation right from in your homes.
The Finance Committee is led by our Treasurer Dr. Trevin London, and they are constantly engaged in improving methods and user-friendly donation sources on our Website and Facebook such as, PayPal, CashApp, and now the possibility of adding Venmo, so that members and well-wishers could make their donations to the association or to programs of their choice. The CAAAI is a 501c3 organization, and all donations are tax-exempted.
The Prayer Warriors Committee headed by the association’s Lay Ministers Ms. Petal Crockwell and Ms. Grace Peters Syfox, has successfully presented its second ‘Powerful Happening’ online prayer service this year on Sunday, August 14th, with plans to hold another prayer session before year’s end. The one-hour service is dedicated to prayers in the presence of the Holy Spirit, imbued with gospel music, pastoral messages, and the reading of the gospel. They will love to have you at their next prayer warriors event, so don’t miss it.
The Information Committee, in addition to improving and increasing articles for the CAAAI Website and Facebook, is reaching out to all members who wish to exchange information and/or items that benefit our readers. All publications are subject to editorial rules and regulations. Further, this committee is continuing to change the structure of the Website to reflect better navigation, so that readers could quickly locate the articles and materials they wish to read or see. In the near future, we may add recipes, birthdays, music videos, dietetics, and simple exercise sections. This committee is also working on updating our group emailing to reach a larger Cambridge audience and supporters all over the world. So if you know of a Cambridgeite who resides in North, Central, or South America, the Caribbean, Africa, or Europe, and he or she is not yet connected to the CAAAI, send us a name and an email address and we will reach out to the individual.
Please remember that committees work best with strong innovative leaders, and volunteers like you with bright new ideas for programs that help to advance the mission and goals of the CAAAI. If you wish to join a committee, send us an email at (
