Just eleven days ago, on Saturday July 16, 2016 the Cambridge Academy Alumni Association International celebrated its fifth biennial reunion at Antun’s in Queens, New York. According to popular comments, many have opined that this occasion was the very best CAAAI reunion ever, and that it epitomized the true spirit of the Cambridge alumni. We are grateful for this positive feedback, but must add that the caliber of our Pinkerton Award recipients this year was the litmus test or most reliable indicator of the association’s recognition of ‘true excellence’.
One of the recipients of the three awards presented was Cambridge Alumni Mrs. Barbara Patterson-Atherly. She received the prestigious Robert A. Pinkerton Award for Humanitarian Service, and delivered a stunning but humble acceptance speech to a packed Antun’s audience of Cambridge alums, friends, and supporters; but standing still for this recipient is not, and never will be an option.
Today, the CAAAI family is proud to extend our heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Barbara Patterson-Atherly on her appointment as Guyana’s Consul General to New York. We are sure that her Curriculum Vitae as a candidate for this most honorable position, accentuated her Cambridge Academy foundation making her selection an unmitigated and unchallengeable justification. We wish our Cambridge Alumni sister the very best in her new and important position as she represents the interest of Guyana and all Guyanese in New York and adjacent jurisdictions.
